Albert Einstein said “The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits.” I believe the unsaid part is most appropriate for Dutch Bangla Bank ;). Being a (not) honorable customer of DBBL for several years, I am getting fade up day by day about them. I surprise to see that if one person says ‘this is possible’ the other person says ‘this is not possible’ and this possible and not possible game is never ending, until I close all my accounts!
I had a savings account at Rajshahi Branch. After a year of that account, I have opened another current account on my firm’s name at Elephant Road branch. I have internet banking access for both accounts. After opening the current account, I told them ‘is it possible to use both accounts from internet using single login (username & password)? The person told me it would be if you told it earlier i.e. before the account opening. They would open the both accounts using same customer ID. As the username for internet login is the customer ID, I could use the both accounts from internet using same username & password.
I understand and satisfied on the point as it seemed highly logical. However, after completing my part at Rajshahi, recently I wanted to open an account at Mohakhali Branch! There, before the account opening, I mentioned the whole situation CLEARLY and they said they would open the account using same Customer ID and they did the same indeed. They told me I would be able to login to my account immediately.
Returning home, I tried but I failed. I thought, there may be some synchronization issues and I should wait a while more. However, after 2-3 days, I tried again with no luck. Then, I have tried to contact the Internet Division of Dutch Bangla Bank Ltd.
You can rest assured, you must be as lucky as getting a CNG auto rikhsaw to find a right person at their Internet Division for solving your problem.
Anyway, I was lucky finally. But I astonished when the person said the Customer ID of both accounts are different. He also mentioned me the IDs. I again explained what was the scenario. He said “branch a giye jhari maren (ব্রাঞ্চে গিয়ে ঝাড়ি মারেন)”! Well, I am not like them who can behave bad even with customers (I witnessed such several times)! So, going to branch again, I conveyed the information. The person now again saying I opened the using same ID. I contacted a elder brother who works in another branch of DBBL. He advised me to talk to 2nd officer or branch in-charge i.e. manager. I talked to 2nd officer and surprisingly he said it is not possible to use same login for current and savings account. However, he was gentle enough and he wanted to confirm what he said. He called the person who is responsible for such issues at his branch. The person hit my head with a 40KG stone! He said ‘It could be opened if both accounts were savings or current”! That mean two savings accounts or two current accounts can be linked. It was just enough to tolerate. From several sources (including DBBL) I know that one person can’t have more than 1 type of account at same bank. That means a person, at most, can have 1 savings, 1 current and 1 joint account at any bank. Even the person DBBL Fast Track at Mohakhali told me same that I must close my Rajshahi’s account before I open a new account at Mohakhali (they also don’t allow transfer of accounts)! Now this person says that I could link if both were savings account. I was so so irritated but tried much to hold my anger.
I requested them “then please talk to your Internet Division personnel that I talked” and interestingly they denied. Then he gave me a form to link accounts and I filled that up and he told it will take about a week to be activated. I exited after thanking him.
So what you think? Is it finished? No! After two weeks I checked and I even can’t access new account. I again visited him and said the issue. I simply wanted to kick the person’s ass after hearing what he said. He said ‘actually it is not possible, I just given you the form because you were insisting”!
I had to pay price being a gentle man! I would be happy if I could slap him! If it is not possible to link two accounts then why there is a prescribed form where I filled the information of both accounts?
I exited the branch and I was planning to close the newly opened to account. However, by this time, I became regular at EXIM Bank. Their customer service is much cordial and better than DBBL!
I am staying with this bullshit bank only for their ATM booth. They also need birth control for their ATM booths. They are giving birth of ATM booths but do not maintain any quality at all!
Well, this is absolutely not the whole scenario. Some personnel from DBBL helped me too much. To name Ripon vy from ID, Mustafiz vy from Mohakhali branch and 2nd officer from Elephant Road branch. I exclusively name Rana vy, the opening manager of Rajshahi Branch. I yet to find a second person like him, in any banks. He is the only person who knows what is banking service. I never seen him growing angry or impolite with customers. He would be my model if I ever join in bank, though I wish never to join :P.
