On 8th June 2010, I have written a blog about the Introduction of Internet Payment in Bangladesh by Dutch Bangla Bank. On 3rd June 2010, they have introduced Internet Payments system in Bangladesh through their gateway where they could process Nexus, Visa and Master Cards. Along with international cards they could process cards those are valid only in Bangladesh. That was a great lift for our e-commerce.
Albert Einstein said “The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits.” I believe the unsaid part is most appropriate for Dutch Bangla Bank . Being a (not) honorable customer of DBBL for several years, I am getting fade up day by day about them. I surprise to see that if one person says ‘this is possible’ the other person says ‘this is not possible’ and this possible and not possible game is never ending, until I close all my accounts!

Recently, 3rd June, 2010, I have seen this news on Prothom-alo that Dutch Bangla Ltd. (DBBL) has introduced Internet Payment systems in Bangladesh. Using their Internet Payment gateway people will be able to purchases services online using their Visa, Masters, DBBL Nexus and Maestro cards. This facility will only be available to approved online merchants.
After the news, I have tried visiting their website and did not found enough information beyond a list of 4 current merchants. There were no details about the service and no technical information. Continue reading →
Recently I have posted a brief overview in Bangla about the Fast Track introduced by Dutch Bangla Bank Ltd (DBBL). I think it is better if I put some words in English too . I know CDM services are not new in Bangladesh, but the augmentation by DBBL is really amazing .
DBBL already has the country’s largest ATM network. Though their service at their branches are not very satisfactory they have made significant improvements in introducing/using technologies in Banking. One reason of their poor customer services at branches may be they do mass banking rather than priority banking like some banks specially the foreign banks. However, in comparison to fees those banks take, I believe DBBL is not much bad .
Most interesting is that, I believe, they know about their poor customer service and they can feel it. That’s why they are trying to provide services even outside their branches. I like that. Their recent introduction of ‘Fast Track’ will enable to go to the branches rarely. The majority of the tasks with bank is deposit and withdrawal of money. Being a customer of largest ATM network, I would need to go to branches occasionally. However, sometimes I had to go to deposit cash but I always afraid of their long queue.
Another thing about DBBL is that their queue management is really poor. They have separate queues for deposit and withdrawal. I never seen more than 2 person in their withdrawal queue. But I always see long line at the deposit counter. The personnel in the withdrawal counter can easily kill lots of flies per day while the personnel in deposit counter are tired of working. I believe they could trade-off between these two based on the rush.
Now, after introducing, “Fast Track” my necessity of going to branch even reduced. I can now deposit from the fast track and one is very close to my house. Fast Track also accepts deposits longer time than branch.
Today I tried to open a Term Deposit with Dutch Bangla Bank Ltd. (DBBL) using their internet banking interface. In a previous post, I have told how inconveniences occurred while getting my Internet Banking account activated. Anyway, to discuss about the point, I have logged into the internet banking system using my ID and Password. After clicking the link ‘Open Deposit‘ from ‘Term Deposits‘ section, I have seen a form to select deposit type and other info. I have entered the required fields. Finally I click ‘Open Deposit’ link/button to submit the request. But it showed me an alert that I must agree with ‘the terms and conditions.
Ok thats usual. I missed that part during filling up. So now clicked the link to read the terms and conditions. But waiting a while, I have awarded a blank page. I thought my connection problem. So closed the window and click the link again. I have tried 3-4 times. But I was getting fully blank page. While all other websites were coming smoothly. I have even tried after a while.
